140 employees ensure that the hotel’s daily processes run smoothly and that guests are satisfied
The owner-run traditional hotel with 160 rooms is located right in the heart of Munich and stands for the high quality and Bavarian tradition. 140 employees ensure that the hotel’s daily processes run smoothly and that guests are satisfied. Achieving this type of efficiency at the highest level requires robust standards, a smooth company-wide communication, and lean processes in all departments. For this reason, they searched for a new digitalised solution. The aim was to find an operational solution, which would also serve as an employee platform. The implementation of hotelkit exceeded the expectations of Hotel Platzl by far. In June 2015, employees from various departments started the 30-day free trial in the Hotel Platzl. After two weeks of using hotelkit, the results were very positive for staff and management. After the test phase, hotelkit was implemented permanently in the Hotel Platzl and used by the entire workforce.
Today, hotelkit, at the Hotel Platzl in Munich, acts as a hub for all kinds of internal communication. It has become the hotel’s key knowledge base and has improved the efficiency of countless operational processes. “You might think that now we have hotelkit, we don’t talk to each other any more! But in fact, exactly the opposite is true, because we save so much time searching for information. You can also see that the team is less stressed”, says Sabine Schneider, Reservations Manager. By documenting repairs, the team gets a perfect overview of all open repair orders and in addition, the workload of each team member can be coordinated. Ideas of employees are shared in hotelkit and the actual implementation is constantly promoted. “The exciting thing is that hotelkit doesn’t stand still. The hotelkit team is continually introducing new ideas and tools to help us make our daily work more efficient through digital means.” Heiko Buchta, General Manager at Hotel Platzl.
The idea of hotelkit was born when Marius Donhauser took over his 4-star city hotel in Salzburg in 2012, where he wanted to improve internal communication and daily routines. Today, 35,000 employees in over 700 hotels work with hotelkit on a daily basis. Among them, The Mandala Hotel Berlin, 25hours Hotels, Estrel Hotel Berlin, Louis C. Jacob Hamburg, SIDE Hotel Hamburg and Adina Apartment Hotels. The software provides hotel employees with digital tools to fulfil daily tasks, repair jobs, guest requests, checklists and shift handovers and also allows the storage and distribution of SOP’s and important information across all operations.
